Michael Jackson’s Glove Sold At Auction

If you are going to have one of our Michael Jackson Costumes this year, one of the accessories you most likely have will be a replica of his famous glove.
Too bad you weren’t lucky enough to obtain one of the real ones. You’d be a lot richer right now.
One of Michael Jackson’s jewelled white gloves that he once tossed to a fan in Australia at a film premiere in 1996 has been sold at an auction held in Melbourne, Australia for $49,000.00.
The King Of Pop was visiting Australia when he was on the “HIStory” Tour when he pitched the glove into the crowd. It was caught by fan and music collector William Hibble. Hibble died and his estate decided to cash in and sell the glove.
As you might expect, the glove was bought by the Hard Rock Hotel And Casino in Las Vegas. C’mon, we all know they would have never let that glove go to just anybody. They probably would have paid three times that much. In any event the auctioneer said it still sold for nearly twice what they thought it would.
“There was a huge amount of interest in the week leading up to the sale. We were still pretty surprised by the price,” Charlotte Stanes of the auction house Bonhams and Goodman told Reuters.
The crystal-encrusted white glove will eventually go on display at the Hard Rock in Las Vegas.
This was the first, of undoubtedly many, Jackson memorabilia items that will be auctioned off. If you missed out on this one don’t fret. Another, more famous, glove is being readied for sale very soon. The glove Jackson wore when he first performed the Moonwalk on the Motown 25 TV special in 1983 is being offered by Commodores member Walter Orange.
Orange who was given the glove as a gift from Jackson and it is valued at more than $60,000.00. Wow! That’s one pricey hand warmer!
Well maybe it won’t be worth a small fortune but you’ll look great and be in high style when you add a bejewelled glove to one of your Michael Jackson Costumes.
