Michael Jackson Costumes for Kids

The Story Of Michael Jackson

A young Michael Jackson

Before we can begin talking about Michael Jackson Costumes, we need to have a little background about the King Of Pop. The history of Michael Jackson begins when he was born, which was August 29, 1958. His parents were Joe and Katherine Jackson. He was the 7th of nine children. (brothers: Sigmund “Jackie”, Toriano “Tito”, Jermaine, Marlon, Steven “Randy”, and sisters Rebbie, Janet and La-Toya Jackson. His father encouraged the children to begin singing, as he saw talent in his large family.

As the kids began to gel as a group, they named themselves The Jackson Five. In just a few years, the group had become internationally known, with Michael as the lead singer, with his brothers as the back-up singers. Their first four singles, “I Want You Back”, “ABC”, “The Love You Save”, and “I’ll Be There” all made US No1 hits. The Jackson 5 recorded 14 albums and Michael recorded 4 solo albums with Motown.

As their music progressed, the Jackson Five continued with great success, however, in the early 70’s, Michael Jackson began a solo career, as he still was continuing to tour with his brothers. But as his own brand became much more popular, his participation became less, as he had to focus on his burgeoning career.

In 1977 Michael Jackson made his first film debut, “The Wiz” which starred Diana Ross. This is where he met the music mogul Quincy Jones, which ended up with the two of them collaborating in Michael Jackson’s first solo album “Off The Wall” with Epic Records, which was the first ever album to release a record breaking 4 No1 singles in the US.

His second hit album, ‘Thriller’ became such a huge hit that it was a phenomenon. It propelled him to international superstardom. John Landis directed the title song ‘Thriller’ which was homage to the horror films of the time, and made history with the incredible response from the watching audience. It was a huge success, with 7 hit singles, and the album became the biggest selling album of all time.

He then went on to create ‘Bad’, another huge selling album which completely rocketed him to being the most sold artist in the world. His fan base was world-wide at this point, he could go nowhere without being mobbed from one end of the world to the other.

His personal life was rife with speculations on his choices, and rumors were just a part of his life. In the early 1990’s, he met and married Lisa Marie Presley, Elvis Presley’s daughter. It was a short-lived marriage, lasting less than 2 years. He eventually married his nurse, Debbie Rowe whom he met while being treated for a skin disease. They produced two children Prince Michael and Paris, his third child, Prince Michael II became the last of his children.

As his career was in the troposphere, his personal life had begun to have difficulties with charges of child molestation. He fought those charges off, and was never convicted, but the constant media attention forced him into becoming reclusive.

But he never gave up his music. In March 2009, Michael announced a shock comeback tour at the O2 Arena in London to start in July 2009, initially for 10 dates but the total grew to a sold out 50 dates with over 750,000 tickets sold. All sold tickets sold out within minutes of being released. He was in the process of practicing moves for the show, when he suffered a reported cardiac arrest on the 25th of June, 2009.

His family and friends, and fans around the world mourned his loss to the music he left them, and to the personality they would never forget. His memorial service was held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles as the world honored his incredible contributions to the music industry.

Wearing a Michael Jackson Costume this Halloween would be a fitting tribute.
